March 2010 - In his Palm Sunday sermon, the CEO of the RCC took exception to mainstream media coverage of the several decades long abuse scandal. He spoke eloquently "of not allowing oneself to be intimidated by the petty gossip of dominant opinion." In the face of continuing outbreake of priestly pedophila and management coverups, the man in the dress and expensive hat is increasingly defiant. On Wednesday, he attacked the New York Times criticism of his lack of interest in the scandal when he was middle management at the Vatican. As if reporters had been the child rapists, and not his own employees.

The media isn't reporting allegations. The stories have been grudgingly confirmed by the Catholic hierarchy - as if they had no idea what was happening until now. Abuse in Ireland? OMG! Abuse in Germany? OMG! Abuse in Mexico? OMG! 200 deaf boys in Wisconsin? OMG! Abuse in the Phillipines! OMG. Abuse in Switzerland? OMG! Abuse in the Netherlands? OMG!

Let's pretend we believe that these were just a few thousand bad apples, as the RCC apologists maintain. Fine. What about the coverup? The coverup involved church officials at every level in every Catholic nation and it even involved your brother, didn't it Pontiff Boy?

The Pontiff himself, in the person of Prefect Cardinal Ratzinger, in 2001 issued and enforced the policy known as "Crimen Sollicitationis". This letter orders silence from all participants in crimes of solicitation (child molestation) under penalty of excommunication. This means that should a victim of a priestly pervert report the crime, that victim could be excommunicated by the church. No pedophile priests have been excommunicated.

• Dioceses in the United States have paid more than 2.6 billion US dollars in abuse-related costs since 1950

The Pope and Vatican don't seem to be getting it, so here's some help.
